NaTour4CChange presented experiences and recommendations for climate-resilient tourism at the European Parliament

The Institute for Tourism, as the lead partner of the NaTour4CChange project, presented the project’s key results, experiences and recommendations aimed at strengthening the resilience of tourism destinations to climate change at the European Parliament in Brussels on 29 September 2026.

The final Policy and Networking Event brought together representatives of European institutions, Mediterranean regions, international organisations and the tourism sector, focusing on the future of climate-resilient and sustainable tourism in Europe.

The project’s key results and recommendations were presented by Dr Izidora Marković Vukadin, Project Lead of NaTour4CChange and Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Tourism. She highlighted the importance of integrating climate resilience into tourism planning, management and financing, as well as applying Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to address climate risks.

The discussion also addressed the experiences of Mediterranean destinations, financing climate adaptation, the role of island regions and future European support for climate-resilient tourism.

The project’s key message: climate resilience must become an integral part of how tourism is planned, managed and financed at the European level.

NaTour4CChange is implemented within the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, with the aim of strengthening the capacity of tourism destinations to respond to climate change and integrating climate adaptation and Nature-based Solutions into destination planning.
