In light of the numerous forest fires this season, our colleague Hrvoje Mataković, along with Karlo Beljan and Stjepan Posavec, has published a highly relevant scientific paper in Šumarski list titled "Perception of the Causes and Consequences of Forest Fires in Croatia."
The research shows that most fires are caused by human activities and emphasizes the need for better education, more effective forest monitoring, and stricter penalties as key measures for their prevention.
