Invitation to the exhibition: Women in the Promotion of Croatian Tourism

The Women in Tourism Promotion exhibition opens on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in the National and University Library in Zagreb.

 

The exhibition is organized by the Institute of Tourism in cooperation with the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore and the National and University Library in Zagreb. It will be officially opened at 2 p.m., by the author Assoc. Ph.D. Jasenke Kranjčević, assistant for activities of the central library of the University of Zagreb, Ph.D. Dijane Machala, director of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore, Ph.D. Iva Niemčić and scientific adviser from the Institute of Tourism, Ph.D. Sande Corak.

 

The exhibition will present visually attractive material - travelogues, tourist guides, posters, brochures, postcards and other printed materials that depict women from different social strata, including the author of travelogues about Croatia, Maude M. Holbach, mountaineer and writer Dragojla Jarnević, a woman of significant political influence Sofija Jelačić, cooks, maids, women in costumes and others. It testifies to the substantial role of women in the promotion of vacation, sports, health and business tourism, as well as the rich Croatian tourist heritage, and was created as part of the scientific research conducted by the Institute for Tourism.
