On December 2, a meeting of the Regional Coordination Unit of Zadar County was held in Zadar as part of the Interreg project NaTour4CClimate, which focuses on strengthening the tourism sector’s resilience to climate change and fostering sustainable and green tourism development. During the meeting, the Regional Climate Strategy for Tourism of Zadar County was presented — a document that provides an analysis of key climate risks, an assessment of the vulnerability of tourism infrastructure and destinations, and proposed measures for adaptation and for reducing the negative impacts of climate change.
Participants discussed ways to implement the strategy and possibilities for integrating the planned measures into local development policies. Special attention was given to agreeing on the next steps in the project’s implementation, including strengthening cross-sector cooperation, collecting additional data needed for the development of operational plans, and preparing pilot activities to be carried out next year.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Zadar County Tourist Board, the University of Zadar, the Nature Jadera association, and the Institute for Tourism, once again confirming the importance of joint action by the academic community, public institutions, and practitioners in responding to the challenges of climate change.
