Visit of Researchers from the University of Évora to the Institute for Tourism

On February 19 and 20, 2024, the Institute for Tourism hosted researchers from the University of Évora – Maria Borges, Jaime Serra, and Joana Lima. Their visit took place as part of the ERASMUS+ Advanced Computing - HPC, HPDA, AI & HPV 2024 program, within the Job Shadowing initiative.

Since 2018, these researchers have been involved in the technical and scientific coordination of the Alentejo Sustainable Tourism Observatory (ASTO), which, like CROSTO, is part of the INSTO network. ASTO operates within the CIDEHUS research unit at the University of Évora.

The primary focus of the visit was the exchange of knowledge and experience gained through observatory work, with a particular emphasis on:

  • the satellite account for sustainable tourism
  • TOMAS research
  • sustainability indicators
  • studies on local community attitudes

This collaboration contributes to strengthening scientific and professional ties between institutions and further advancing research in the field of sustainable tourism.
