Dr. Izidora Marković Vukadin, Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Tourism, is participating in the international workshop “Destination Management Approaches to Support Balanced Tourism Development”, taking place on 28 and 29 May 2026 at Oris – House of Architecture in Zagreb.

The workshop is organised by the OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities, the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Republic of Croatia, and the European Commission (DG MOVE), within the framework of the OECD Tourism Committee’s work focused on optimising the social impacts of tourism and supporting balanced tourism development.

As part of the programme, Dr. Izidora Marković Vukadin will deliver a presentation on the methodological framework for assessing and managing destination carrying capacity, with a particular focus on experiences and examples from Croatia.

The workshop brings together international experts in destination management, tourism, and public policy, focusing on approaches and tools for visitor flow management, destination carrying capacity assessment, and the development of sustainable and balanced tourism models based on evidence-informed decision-making and community involvement.

Key discussion topics include defining limits of acceptable change in destinations, monitoring tourism pressures, and involving local communities in decision-making processes and long-term tourism development planning.
