At the VIII Spring Symposium on Tourism Development – SSTD 2026, held on Lanzarote (Canary Islands, Spain) under the theme “Tourism and Residents’ Well-being”, Dr. Snježana Boranić Živoder presented the results of research conducted within the BIHEVTUR – Behavioural Sciences in the Function of Tourism Management with the Aim of Sustainable Development project.
The study, entitled “Living with Tourism: How Interaction and Media Exposure Shape Residents’ Stereotypes of Tourists”, examines how interactions with tourists and media exposure influence the formation of local residents’ attitudes and stereotypes towards tourists.
The findings contribute to a better understanding of resident–tourist relationships and provide valuable insights for the sustainable management of tourism destinations and the enhancement of local communities’ quality of life.
