Dr Damir Krešić, Managing Director of the Institute for Tourism, participated in a meeting of the Tourism Task Force of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) in Brussels, dedicated to the growth of short-term rental accommodation and the sustainability of European tourism.
As part of the exchange of views, he delivered a presentation entitled “Short-Term Rentals and Sustainability of European Tourism: The Croatian Perspective”, presenting Croatia’s experience in managing the growth of short-term rentals and their impact on destination sustainability.
Particular emphasis was placed on evidence-based tourism and destination management, taking into account the economic, social, environmental and spatial impacts of tourism development.
The discussion took place in the context of the forthcoming EU legislative initiative on short-term rentals and sustainable tourism development.
