The Institute for Tourism and the University of Zadar are pleased to announce the INTERNATIONAL TRANSDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCE "(Co)Existence with Tourism: Beyond Sustainability?", which will take place from 21 to 24 April 2027 at Falkensteiner Resort Punta Skala – Falkensteiner Hotel Iadera, Zadar, Croatia.
The conference will bring together researchers, academics, professionals, and representatives of public authorities and public administration to foster interdisciplinary dialogue on contemporary challenges and future directions in tourism development. Recognising that tourism is increasingly shaping destinations around the world, the conference will provide a platform for critically examining the limits of the sustainability paradigm and exploring new theoretical and practical approaches to the coexistence of tourism, local communities, and the environment.
The conference programme will focus on the exchange of knowledge and experiences related to tourism governance, destination resilience, justice and equity, regenerative development, and the future of tourism destinations. The organisers invite submissions of conceptual, empirical, methodological, and public policy-oriented research, as well as contributions from scholars in tourism and related disciplines, including geography, economics, sociology, political science, environmental studies, spatial planning, psychology, and cultural studies.
The conference will feature the following keynote speakers:
- Melanie Kay Smith, Budapest Business University, Hungary
- Stephen Pratt, University of Central Florida, USA
- Stefan Gössling, Linnaeus University, Sweden
- Josip Mikulić, University of Zagreb, Croatia
Further information on the conference, including important dates, abstract submission guidelines, and registration details, is available on the conference website: http://www.coexisting.hr
We warmly invite all interested researchers and professionals to join the international scientific community in Zadar and contribute their research, experience, and ideas to the discussion on the future of tourism.
