First Meeting of the Regional Coordination Unit for Developing the Climate Strategy in Tourism of Zadar County was Held

The first meeting of the members of the Regional Coordination Unit was held, from which the Climate Strategy for Tourism in Zadar County will emerge through expert collaboration.

The strategy will be led by the Institute for Tourism and is being developed as part of the Interreg EURO-MED project NaTour4CChange - Governing Sustainable Tourism in Territories with High Environmental Value: Reconnecting Tourism and Nature to Address the Climate Crisis with an Ecosystem-Based Approach.

The Institute for Tourism is the lead partner in this project, which brings together 10 partners from 6 countries, including NATURA-JADERA, a public institution that hosted the Regional Unit meeting on September 30, 2024.

The meeting was attended by the director of the Institute for Tourism, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Damir Krešić, project coordinator Dr. Izidora Marković Vukadin, project associates Dr. Mira Zovko and Dr. Nora Mustać, head of the Tourism Department in the Administrative Department for Economy and Tourism of Zadar County, Marta Hordov, head of the Department for Spatial Planning in the Administrative Department for Spatial Planning, Environmental Protection, and Communal Services of Zadar County, Zvonimir Dorkin, assistant director of the Zadar County Tourist Board, Ina Sikirić, associate professor in the Department of Tourism and Communication Sciences at the University of Zadar, Dr. Tomislav Klarin, Dr. Gabrijela Vidić, lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Communication Sciences at the University of Zadar, and Nives Rogoznica, local coordinator for the NaTour4CChange project at NATURA-JADERA.

Throughout the NaTour4CChange project, five regional strategies will be developed across five Mediterranean countries to mitigate climate change and adapt the coastal tourism sector, with solutions for mitigation and adaptation sought through nature-based approaches in six pilot areas.

The project is co-financed under the Interreg Euro-MED program, commenced on January 1, 2024, and will last for 33 months. For more information about the project, click HERE.
