Community-led tourism represents an approach to tourism development in which the wider local community actively participates in shaping the tourism offer, thereby creating sustainable, authentic, and long-term valuable tourism products.
This very approach is being applied in Slavonski Brod through the People Powered Tourism project, implemented by the Institute for Tourism in cooperation with the Tourist Board of the “Slavonski Brod–Posavina” area.
Through workshops, meetings, and public presentations, local stakeholders are involved in identifying and valorising cultural and natural resources, as well as in developing new tourism experiences.
The positive public response to proposals such as Active Holidays in the Surroundings of Slavonski Brod and Art Weekend in Slavonski Brod confirms the importance of a participatory approach to tourism development.
In this way, the conditions are created for the development of tourism products based on local potentials, with a clearly defined role of the community in the planning and implementation processes.
