The exhibition Women in the Promotion of Croatian Tourism presents visually engaging materials from travelogues, tourist guides, posters, brochures, postcards, and other printed items that depict women from various social backgrounds and testify to the significant role of women in promoting Croatian tourism.
The exhibition was developed as part of the eponymous research project by the Institute for Tourism on the role and evaluation of women’s positions in tourism promotion throughout its historical development. It is based on a generous donation of materials by architect Aleksandar Lasl, as well as the holdings of the Institute for Tourism library.
The research was conducted in collaboration with the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research and numerous other Croatian tourism and heritage institutions, aiming to address gaps in knowledge about Croatian tourism from the mid-19th to nearly the entire 20th century, while highlighting the richness of Croatia’s tourism heritage to both scholars and the general public.
