On November 8, 2024, the 24th Tourism Discussions were held at HKD Napredak (Bogovićeva 1, Zagreb) on the topic "Tourism and New Growth Theories."
The introductory presentation and panel were led by Nora Mustać, with panelists Dr. Ivan Kožić (Institute for Tourism), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Željko Bogdan (EFZG), and Assist. Prof. Dr. Jelena Zlatar Gamberožić (Institute for Social Research in Zagreb). The panel discussed the role of tourism in long-term growth and the transformation toward sustainability.
The conclusions from this panel discussion indicate that, due to recent global changes, green growth and sustainability are gradually entering strategic development plans and even legislative frameworks. However, greater engagement from all stakeholders (at both national and local levels) is necessary to protect both the environment and people, with the quality of life for local residents being the primary goal of all policies.
