Research Paper on the Residential Architecture of Ploče Published

Due to the limited research on Croatia's architectural heritage, some towns have been subject to oversimplified and often unfounded labels. One such example is Ploče, which has occasionally been described as "the ugliest town in Croatia," despite being a planned town developed after the Second World War and embodying the key characteristics of modern architecture.

To contribute to a better understanding and appreciation of Ploče's architectural heritage, a scientific study on the town's residential architecture was conducted as part of the AKULTUR research project in cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb.

The findings have been published in the scientific journal Prostor in the article Residential Architecture of the Planned Modern Port-Industrial Town of Ploče (1945–1971), authored by Professor Zrinka Barišić Marenić and Associate Professor Jasenka Kranjčević.

The paper analyses the residential architecture of Ploče and places it within the broader context of the development of residential architecture in Croatia between 1945 and 1971, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the urban and architectural value of this planned modern town.
