Dr. sc. Izidora Marković Vukadin, Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Tourism, was a guest on HRT’s Dnevnik news programme in the feature “Zagreb This Year’s Most Sought-After Croatian Air Travel Destination”, broadcast on 15 August 2026.
In the feature, she commented on current developments in air transport and their impact on Croatian tourism, with particular emphasis on changes in key source markets. She highlighted the increase in arrivals from Poland as a promising trend, while the decline in the number of passengers from Germany can be attributed to a combination of different factors, including economic developments and the FIFA World Cup.
Commenting on the decline in tourist traffic in June, she emphasised that it should not be viewed as a cause for concern, given that the majority of tourists still travel to Croatia by road.
The feature also highlighted the increase in passenger numbers at Croatian airports, which recorded approximately 5.5 million passengers in the first half of 2026, representing a 3% increase compared to the same period last year. Zagreb stood out as the Croatian air travel destination with the highest number of passengers.
