The study of the sustainability of tourism development and carrying capacity with the action plan of Šibenik-Knin County consists of six parts:
• The first part consists of introductory remarks which set out the starting point and objectives of the Study, explain the concepts of sustainable development and carrying capacity, and present the methodology of work.
• The second part of the study is an analysis of the current situation, which includes consideration of characteristics of Šibenik-Knin County as a whole and its four clusters (Vodice-Murter, Šibenik-Skradin, Primmošten-Rogoznica and Zaleđe) as destinations, analysis of transport and communal infrastructure, resource base analysis and analysis of tourist supply and demand.
• The third part contains the results of two surveys related to visitors and residents of the County, and the results of interviews with the representatives of public sector
• The fourth part includes indicators of carrying capacity showing pressure on Šibenik-Knin County as a whole and individual clusters on four basic groups of indicators - spatial-ecological, infrastructural, socio-demographic and political-economic.
• The fifth part consists of data synthesis and calculation of carrying capacity, in which the key areas of vulnerability are considered in more detail, which in the case of Šibenik-Knin County refers primarily to construction and communal infrastructure. Based on that, development scenarios are elaborated and on the basis of the most favorable scenario of sustainable tourism development, a concrete calculation of the carrying capacity for individual clusters and the County as a whole is presented.
• The sixth part of the study consists of an action plan consisting of recommendations for the implementation of sustainable development scenarios, an overview of specific development projects and a supervised implementation plan.
Based on the results of the Study, it follows that compared to the values from 2019, the number of overnight stays during the year could increase from the current 5,600,000 to about 8,400,000 overnight stays, with the most room for growth in the non-tourist hinterland (230%), less in the clusters Šibenik-Skradin and Primošten-Rogoznica (50-54%), and relatively least in the cluster Vodice-Murter (45%).
