The People Powered Tourism project focuses on empowering local communities in less-visited urban areas and rural regions to redefine and valorize their cultural and natural heritage in a new, contemporary way. Through collaborative reflection and social innovation, the project develops sustainable, experience-based, and transformative tourism services that promote tourism rooted in local resources and initiatives, delivering tangible socio-economic benefits to the community.
The project began on April 1, 2025, and will run for 36 months. It is implemented under the Danube Transnational Programme (INTERREG Danube) and brings together 14 partners from 10 countries in the Danube region. The lead partner is the City of Szeged (Hungary), and alongside the Institute for Tourism, an associated partner in the project is the Tourist Board of the Slavonski Brod – Posavina area.
