Based on the evaluation of the attractiveness of thetourism resources potential, and having in mind the global trends in the tourist market on which one could capitalize in the long run, a detailed SWOT analysis has been carried out so as to derive key strategic advantages, as well as key strategic disadvantages which one should take into account when planning tourism development in the lower Neretva region.
The results of these analyses provided solid ground for defining the tourism development concept for the project area including not only the territorial, and the thematic aspect, but the development priorities as well. Operationalisation of the tourism development concept by means of a phased approach, the initiation of suggested projects related to the improvrement of the destination competitiveness, and implementation of recommended marketing activities, shoud provide solid ground for gradual, coordinated and sustainable tourism development.
